Yes, yes, I realize that the last time I wrote my “weekly” Artist’s Way post was a month ago, but I’ve got to start again sometime.

Top 3 Distractions
Logan
I recently went on a trip with high schoolers to a conference called CIY MOVE. Now that I was trying to actually get high schoolers to focus for longer than one hour, I was overwhelmed by the amount of distractions that kids have in their lives. This post will discuss a few of the most prominent distractions. (More …)

have you heard of this book called Thrilled to Death? mrs. udell told me about it. its about the over stimulation of the pleasure center of people’s brains, especially in the US where we have our tv on, our laptop out, and we’re talking on the phone… i want to read it.

one of the things that book talks about (or so ive heard, i haven’t read it yet…) is that once people stop using things like internet/phone/tv they have to de-tox because its an actual addiction. so weird.

hey Logan… I know i’m commenting on this a bit late. I’m playing catchup with your posts. Throughly enjoying them.
Awhile back I was also struck with the ammount of “White Noise” we have in our lives. It gets scary when you think wonder what it would be like to be God trying to find a time when we are LISTENING. JUST listening.
I link it to his calling for us to have a day of Sabbath. It is such an important, integral, concept. A priority to God! But we don’t hardly keep it. how would our lives change if we did.
Anyway. thanks brother.
Distractions in my life: random unfinished projects i pick up anytime i have free time, cell phone, (we don’t have internet, so that’s not anymore), and cleaning.

Oh, I got a little teary-eyed reading this. I’m so glad you are sharing your experience. This may sound silly coming from someone who has only known you from reading your blog intermittently for the past couple months, but I am so proud of you! This kind of break through is what TAW is all about. So now I’ll get back to writing the novel I didn’t know I wanted to write until I did this very same exercise.

Aaahh. You just sobered me and completely delighted me. Your post is so encouraging and I love how you expressed yourself! No matter what you spend most of your time on in the next year (or five, or ten), just know that you are already a respected author…at least by your younger sister!
Love,
Ellie

Ellie I think it’s about time you got your own wordpress. Considering the fact that you’re the writer.

well well well. Aanna does it again. you’re so rad.
That was great. And i am immensely jealous that you were able to write a song-in one day no less. that’s something i’ve wanted to do for a long time now and 1. don’t put the time to it 2. feel like i am incapable of writing intelligent non-nursery rhyme lyrics. you inspire me!
i’m so happy to read your words and i was delighted in picturing you singing this song to logan.
